DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police have arrested three individuals in connection with an alleged assault on four youths in the intervening hours between December 16 and the 17th.
The incident reportedly began at Nyamo Lotha Road in Dimapur
when a collision occurred between a scooty carrying two individuals and a car
driven by two of the youths.
The collision led to an altercation, during which the scooty
riders called several associates who then allegedly assaulted the youths at
gunpoint while claiming to be national workers, sources said.
According to reports, the youths in the car were purportedly
taken to a location in Thahekhu village, where they were asked to leave their
car and take the scooty instead.
Subsequently, the two youths called a friend to assist them
as they did not know how to operate a scooty.
However, when the friend arrived with his brother, the
assailants reportedly followed them and forcibly brought all four individuals
back to the location in Thahekhu village.
During this encounter, one of the youths managed to escape,
but the others were allegedly physically assaulted.
All three youths who sustained injuries have been admitted
to a private hospital in Dimapur and are currently receiving treatment, sources
confirmed.
Meanwhile, the arrested individuals are claiming to be
civilians, police sources disclosed.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement
regarding the matter.
