DIMAPUR — The
general secretary of NSCN (IM), Th. Muivah, has condoled the demise of Tapan K
Bose, a distinguished journalist and human rights activist.
He has described Bose as a “true friend of the Naga people,
someone who not only understood our rights but also stood by us in our struggle.”
He stated that Bose was a statesman in the truest sense, a
man of integrity who felt the sentiments of the Naga people and fearlessly
championed their cause despite immense challenges. He added that Bose’s
unwavering support and invaluable counsel helped shape the Naga national
movement in meaningful ways.
“During my time in prison, he stood by me, offering his
assistance and playing a crucial role in securing my release. His influence
extended beyond borders, fostering friendship and alliances that strengthened
our movement on the international stage. His advocacy for the rights of the
Naga people remains a significant chapter in our history,” Muivah said.
He lamented that Naga people have lost not just an ally but
a dear friend whose guidance would be deeply missed. Muivah added that his
courage to stand for the oppressed, his principles and his statesmanship would
remain as a lasting monument.
“While we may or may not find another friend like him, he is
truly irreplaceable,” he added.
On behalf of the Naga nation and its people, Muivah has
conveyed condolence to the family and friends of Bose and prayed to the
Almighty God to grant them strength and comfort in their time of grief.
