Dimapur, Nov. 24 (EMN): A textbook on English Communication Skills was formally released on Friday at C-Edge College, Dimapur by Principal Dimapur Government College Akok Walling, who is also one of the pioneer members to introduced Functional English during the nineties in Nagaland.
In his talk, he mentioned that the book is not a notebook but a textbook. He said the book is condensed with a lot of contents and need to be decoded and also mentioned that it is a gem.
Walling also gave a demonstrative classroom management covering on topics like eye contact, body language, mannerism, gestures, and facial expression which are vital components when it comes to effective communication. Topics were demonstrated through video recording of interaction among volunteered students which was later playback and an interactive review was shared by him to the audience.
Wapaningla Ao, head of Management department and the co-editor of the book shared the background of the book. She acknowledged the principal of the college, Dr. Chubatola Aier who is also the co-editor of the book, for the opportunity to be a part of the journey on her continuous qualitative contribution towards higher education in Nagaland.
She also mentioned that CEC English Communication Skills was approved as a Choice Based Credit Paper for BA VI Semester students by Nagaland University and C-Edge College is the only college in Nagaland to implement it since 2015. She also stressed on the need for good communication skills and where learning and getting trained is a must in today’s competitive world.
Dr. Aier acknowledged and thanked all those who have supported and involved in bringing out the book successfully. She thanked co-contributors of the book - Daisy Shitio, Abenla Aonok, and Meyatemsu.
The CEC English Communication textbook can be used as a reference by anyone who takes up soft skills programmes, the release infromed.
