Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): Tetso College celebrated its annual ‘Scholastic Day,’ an award ceremony meant for celebrating excellence on February 2 in the college amphitheatre with Rev. Dr. Mazie Nakhro, director of mission facilitators (USA), as the special guest.
It programme began with the inauguration of the new staff room in the new academic block.
Delivering the welcome address, the college’s vice principal Dr. Hewasa Lorin emphasised that every member of the Tetso family should own responsibility to become a better version of themselves. She announced the introduction of the new MA English programme for the academic session 2019.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Dr. Mezie Nakhro mentioned four important things to keep in mind to help them to success – (1) Try to figure out what you are supposed to be doing and discover where you can excel, (2) Draw your future and imagine how you can get there because imagination is stronger than thoughts, (3) Believe in your dreams and have the conviction that you can do it and (4) Do something about it. Give your best, your everything towards it. If you fall, fall forward and get up, and do it again.
The highlight of the programme was the launch of ‘Tetso Interdisciplinary’ journal volume 7 (ISSN 2319-2925), focussing on the theme ‘Indigenous perspectives in Northeast India.
It features powerful papers from research scholars that address efforts of peace building, reconciliation, negotiation and preservation of indigenous knowledge.
Another key highlight was the presentation of the governor PB Acharya’s Dr. T Ao Award, which was presented to three sportspersons namely Aito of BA 4th semester (TaeKwondo), Zuchopemo N Odyuo, BA 4th semester (badminton) for their achievements at the district, state and national level events and Iteibamle of BA 6th semester for badminton.
The annual E-book of the English Department titled “Echo: A Tetso College Anthology of Art and Literature” (ISBN 978-81-929456-4-4) was also launched. It features poems, prose and art submitted by students of Tetso and other institutes across Nagaland.
In the perfect attendance award, three teaching faculty and 12 students were awarded. The Tetso student of the year 2018 award from the degree level went to Chubamenla of BA 4th semester, while Izidielie of Class 11 commerce was the Tetso student of the Year 2018 at the higher secondary level. BA 6th semester was declared the overall class champions of the year 2018 for their numerous
achievements in sports and college events.
