Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): Tetso College oberved its 23rd fresher’s day in its Indoor Auditorium on July 22, on the theme ‘Salvete’ meaning ‘welcome’ in Latin.
Chaplain, Hermish Fisherman invoked God’s presence while welcome address was delivered by Director-Administration, Kvulo Lorin.
The keynote speaker of the day, general secretary of Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho exhorted the freshers on the importance of knowing ‘who you are, why you are here and what they can become.’ Rev. Keyho blessed all the freshers – the Class XI and 1st semester students for successful future.

Referring to the clean election campaign, he confided, “We don’t know how successful it will be, because it is not an overnight journey we live in. Don’t think that clean elections will happen tonight, it may happen in the lives of our grandchildren, but the movement has started.’ He, however, stated that clean election is about our future. He told the students to tell their friends, church and community, ‘Give us our future’. “We don’t blame the system because we are all a part of it” he added.
Awards were given away by Dr. PS Lorin, the college principal, and Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, to two students namely Yepukali V Chophy and PS Reishangnim for topping the recent Nagaland University undergraduate examination 2017 in English Honours and Management Honours. In the field of sports, Zuchopemo Odyuo, BA 1st Semester, was recognised for winning the junior mixed doubles at the 41st Nagaland inter-district and State badminton championship 2017.
Other highlights of session-1 included ‘Thanks to God’ sang by Tetso Evangelical Union choir, while a special song was presented by Aren, BA 3rd Semester, and speech delivered by general secretary of Tetso Student Council, Khekivi H. Yeptho and class representative BA 1st Semester, Tenyebinlo Himb.
Session II was hosted by Tsiavisa of BA 5th Semester and Inato of Class 12 Commerce. The ‘Unknowns’ band performed “Don’t Stop Believing” followed by a dance from Vinoto Awomi of BA 3rd Semester, Eng Honours. The freshers also participated with a song titled “Supermarket flower” by Sangpolong of B.A. 1st Semester, a beat boxing spectacular by Longkhro of Class 11 Arts, King Kunta rap by TinotoAwomi of B.A. 1st Semester English Honour and a song by Lhouvituo-ü Lhoungu of BA 1st Semester English Honours titled “If we hold on together”. Other items included a play titled “Murderous English” was presented by the College Drama Club and a duet by Alex Rio and Kisemsen of Class 12 Arts.
