Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): Tetso College has announced two scholarships for students on the occasion of its scholastic day held in the college premises on February 9.
The college has announced 50% scholarship for students desiring to pursue their BBA and B Com at Tetso College which comes up to INR 7300 per semester. The scholarship is for the duration of the entire degree course aimed at encouraging more students to opt for commerce and management studies. The scholarship would be offered from the new academic session.
The college has also announced 100% scholarship to toppers from the NBSE HSLC and HSSLC exams, which basically entitles a student to free education for the entire duration of the course.
Principal of Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School and the guest of honour, Manoj Bhattacharjee, encouraged the students to take up commerce stream. He also congratulated the awardees and appreciated the college community for its efforts in strengthening higher education in Nagaland.
Scholastic day was organised to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of students and staff. Awards and certificates were handed out to students and staff for 100% attendance.
Teachers who were awarded included Limala Longchar from the department of English; Mhabeni Tungoe, HOD of Education; Zujanbeni M Lotha from the department of sociology; and Seyiesilie Vupru from the department of political science.
The outstanding contributor award for 2017 was won by Ms. Kahor Raleng, HOD of English department and higher secondary supervisor, for her overall contribution to the college. Under her leadership, the English department secured the top rank every year since the Nagaland University end semester exams, the most recent being the gold medal in the NU English honours programme in 2017. The department has also been securing distinctions in the NBSE HSSLC Exams.
The student of the year 2017 for degree level was awarded to Mereninla Jamir, BA 6th Semester (English Hons) and the student of the year 2017 for higher secondary level was won by Inato Aye, Class XII (Commerce). The class champions for the year 2017 was won by the BA 4th semester students for winning the majority of events over the course of sports week and other events held in the previous year.
Two college publications were also launched namely ‘Expressions: A Tetso College Anthology of Art and Literature’ (ISBN 978-81-929456-3-7), the English Department’s ebook and the ‘Tetso Interdisciplinary Journal, Vol. 6’ (ISSN - 2319-2925), the college’s annual journal.
