Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): An organisation, Tesophenyu Group Students’ Union (TGSU), has passed resolutions associated with a number of events in their area.
The organisation stated that the TGSU was the apex body of the students’ community of four villages under the Tesophenyu area, a press release from the group stated on Sunday.
According to the organisation, the resolutions were decided upon keeping in mind upcoming events in the area including “Golden Jubilee Friendship Treaty between Tesophenyu and Touphema,” the 39th general conference of the Rengma Students’ Union and the ordination of St. Peter’s Catholic Church at Tesophenyu.
The first of the resolutions the press release listed: The TGSU is “not against nor in favour of any political parties but appeal all to acknowledge and respect the decisions of the union for promoting peaceful coexistence, conducive atmosphere and maintaining friendly relations without inciting any untoward incidents free from violence.”
Political parties are prohibited from forming ‘camps,’ and from ‘supplying cash’; use and sale of intoxicants and substances; campaigns and canvassing within the union’s jurisdiction with effect from Nov. 11, the press release stated.
Further, the press release stated, the ‘TGPU, TGWU’ and four village councils will be collaborating to “contain anti-social elements within its jurisdictions.”
“Violation of the code of conduct and offence shall be committing at one’s own risk and he/she/they shall be responsible for failure of the envisaged programmes and activities,” the organisation added.
