- KOHIMA — Terra
Verde, an art exhibition celebrating the beauty of the Earth and its
landscapes, got underway on Tuesday at the Centre of Excellence for Music and
Arts (CEMA) in Kohima.
- Organised by Local Colours and supported by the Task Force
for Music and Arts (TaFMA), the event was attended by Y Anthony Ngullie,
Commissioner and Secretary of the Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) department,
as the special guest.
- Addressing the gathering, Ngullie highlighted the various
initiatives undertaken by the YRS department, including the success of
e-gaming. He lauded TaFMA under the leadership of chairman Theja Meru,
commending its efforts in promoting music and the arts in the state.
- Expressing gratitude to Nagaland's Chief Minister Neiphiu
Rio for his leadership, he acknowledged the youth-empowering activities being
carried out across Nagaland.
- Speaking on the theme Terra Verde, which translates to
"green land," Ngullie emphasised the importance of preserving
Nagaland's rich natural beauty and urged the people to take conscious steps in
conserving the environment. He further applauded the artists for their creative
expression and wished them success in their artistic endeavours.
- On behalf of Local Colours, Mhasitono Kennea addressed the
gathering, thanking the government of Nagaland and TaFMA for their continued
support. She shared the collective vision of Local Colours to take Nagaland's
artistic talent to the global stage.
- TaFMA project director Dr. Hovithal Sothu delivered the
welcome address, while TaFMA chairman Theja Meru introduced Terra Verde to the
audience. Meru commended the artists for their creativity and dedication,
stating that exhibitions like Terra Verde provide a vital platform for artistic
expression and growth.
- Meru reaffirmed TaFMA's commitment to supporting Nagaland's
artists and encouraged the public to appreciate and invest in their work. He
also expressed gratitude to the chief minister for his unwavering support in
fostering the growth of the music and arts sector in the state.
