DIMAPUR — The launching programme of the Terogvunyu Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK), along with the distribution of tools and machinery, was held at Terogvunyu village on November 17.
The event was formally inaugurated by the special guest, Obed Quinker, chairman of the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), according to an update.
In his address, Quinker emphasised that although the project may seem small, it carries the potential to create meaningful change. He reminded the gathering that the forests and fields are valuable assets, and it is the responsibility of the people to utilise their resources effectively to enhance livelihoods.

He urged all members to make sincere and efficient use of government schemes, unlike the many initiatives that fail due to lack of seriousness. He encouraged Terogvunyu village to become an example of successful implementation for others to follow.
He also highlighted the unique advantage of the village in having an apitherapy facility, which sets it apart from many other communities. Further, he stressed that whether in beekeeping or any other profession, individuals must work with seriousness, commitment, and a clear sense of purpose.
While the project may appear modest, he noted that with dedication and proper utilisation of available resources, it has the capability to transform lives. He urged VDVK members not to view it merely as another government scheme but to use it effectively so that Terogvunyu VDVK can emerge as one of the best among all VDVKs.
Earlier, the programme began with the official launching of the VDVK tools and machinery by the special guest and a dedicatory prayer offered by Tekhenlo Semp.
In the programme, Nzanbemo K Lotha delivered the introductory note, explaining that since beekeeping is a seasonal activity, the NBHM has integrated other Minor Forest Produce (MFPs) along with honey to ensure year-round engagement in order to improve the livelihood of farmers.
This was followed by a brief speech from the project coordinator and team member, Mhathung T Tsopoe, who highlighted key features of the PMJVM scheme.
