The Tenyimi Women’s Day celebrations organized by the Tenyimi Women’s Union Dimapur (TWUD) on Saturday in Dimapur were a pledge for welfare and womanhood.
The event was conducted in the town hall with Minister of Eco Forest Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire attending the event as the chief guest.
Entrepreneur Neibu Nagi was the guest of honor.
During the celebrations the minister emphasized on the importance of parents and their roles saying that they play a major role in nurturing children and their future.
He encouraged the parents to teach and correct the children during the early stages of their lives by identifying their talents and accepting their weaknesses.
Commenting ‘college life’ as the most dangerous part of a student’s life and ‘a best learning experience, Kire advised the students to choose what is right while staying away from bad habits.
He also urged upon the gathering to copy the good works of others without shame as Nagas in general tend to copy only the wrong doings.
The chief guest also urged upon the Tenyimi Women Union to focus more and give importance on each other’s welfare instead of only talking about sustaining the union during meetings.
Guest of honor who spoke on the early Tenyimi settlers of Dimapur tagged the district as the ‘Land of Opportunity’ for the Tenyimi people.
He said success will only come with hard work and dedication.
He said the ‘honesty and integrity’ way of living which was once practiced by the Naga people’s forefathers ‘should be revived and put to practice in order to achieve success.’
The dedication of song cassette of the first Tenyi mother, Tenyi Zuo Keriapfu and to all Tenyimi Women was released by the former President NMA and former Chairperson Women Commission, Enoli Sano Vamuzo. Enoli Sano Vamuzo while dedicating the song advised the womenfolk’s present to revive the practice of weaving which is disappearing.
The celebration was also entertained with a special song sung by the chief guest and his friends which was then followed by a solo performance by the chief guest.
The celebration included various folk songs by various Tenyimi tribes and a traditional attire presentation of every woman and girls of each Tenyimi tribes.
The first formal session was followed by a second session that included report of new office bearers search committee by convener and induction of New Office Bearer for 2016-2019.
All the legislatures’ wives under the Tenyimi tribes were also invited to be a part of the celebration but none turned up.
