DIMAPUR — The
Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) and its tribal units expressed their
appreciation to the law enforcement agencies, particularly the commissioner of
police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, and his team, as well as the Sub Urban
Police Station, Dimapur, led by UBI V Vikheka, in responding to the recent
incident involving the physical assault and verbal harassment of some youths in
Dimapur, including a student.
In a press statement, it lauded the swift action taken by
the police, noting that despite the immense pressure and challenges posed by
the 24-hour ultimatum, the police demonstrated professionalism, commitment, and
efficiency in apprehending the perpetrators.
The union, while acknowledging the complexities involved in
such cases, appreciated the dedication and vigilance of the law enforcement
agencies. Their efforts brought a sense of justice and relief to the victims
and their families, reaffirming faith in the rule of law and the safety of the
community, it said.
Further, it said that as an organisation, the union remains
committed to serving the interests of students and the community through fair,
democratic, and collaborative means, and that it looks forward to fostering
strong partnerships with all stakeholders in the shared pursuit of peace,
justice, and security.
