- WOKHA — Tension
flared up once again along the border area of Ralan in Wokha district on
Saturday when personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) entered Old
Ralan and foiled a solar installation work.
- According to a reliable source, the CRPF personnel entered
Old Ralan at around 9 am and halted a consignment of solar lights meant for
installation at a new fuel station.
- The situation escalated when members of the women's
organisation from Ralan area retaliated, alleging harassment by the CRPF
personnel manning the Assam-Nagaland border.
- Speaking over the phone, Border Magistrate and SDO Ralan,
Tsenthungo Ngullie, told Eastern Mirror that the Indian Oil Corporation Limited
(IOCL) was preparing to install solar lights at the new fuel station in Old
Ralan when CRPF personnel halted the installation.
- This resulted in a clash between the CRPF and women
organisation members, youth, and local residents. However, there was no
casualty, and the CRPF personnel later withdrew from the area, the magistrate
said.
- Ngullie also informed that a border magistrate-level meeting
between Nagaland and Assam is scheduled for Monday at the CRPF camp in
Rengmapani.
- He went on to state that the area has been witnessing
simmering tension since the fuel station at Old Ralan junction was set up
nearly three years ago.
- The area falls within the jurisdiction of Old Ralan, and the
local residents are unhappy with the repeated intrusions by the CRPF, he added.
