Dimapur, Oct. 5 (EMN): Assam Baptist Convention (ABC) has envisioned setting up 10000 churches in Assam by 2030. This was disclosed by ABC general secretary, Rev. Bernard K Marak, during a joint fellowship with the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) on October 4 at Convent hall, Impur.
The joint fellowship was stated to be first of its kind aimed at building stronger rapport and to work together in God’s mission. ABC team was headed by Rev. Benard K Marak along with 20 leaders representing six associations.
Speaking on the occasion, ABAM executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger, has termed the fellowship ‘historic.’ Of the many historic events between the people of Assam and the Ao Naga, Rev. Mar mentioned of an evangelist Godhula Brown from Sibsagar, Assam, who has been in the limelight following his historic entry to Naga Hill in 1871 as forerunner of Dr. Edward Clark. Since then, he stated that Assam Baptist Convention and the Ao Baptist Church Association have always been closer than any other Associations.
He further assured of ABAM’s help in every possible way and wished all success in their ministry.
An elated Rev. Benard K Marak remarked that the gathering was more than a fellowship. He also announced that ABC aims to build 10000 churches by 2030 in Assam. He thanked Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger for the support rendered towards the success of the fellowship.
Following the fellowship, ABC had conducted an executive committee meeting on October 4 and 5 at Impur.
