DIMAPUR — Ten government schools in Nagaland were formally dedicated as PM SHRI schools and foundation stones were laid for 23 hostels under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) on Tuesday, as part of the fifth anniversary celebrations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The ceremony was led virtually by Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan from Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, during the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam. The event was livestreamed across the country and attended in Nagaland by students, teachers, MLAs, officials and community members. According to an update, Nagaland’s ten selected model schools—one from each district—are among 14,500 across India designated as PM SHRI schools. These institutions are expected to serve as exemplars of NEP 2020, with upgraded infrastructure and curriculum aligned with the policy’s goals of equity, quality, access, and inclusion.

The PM SHRI schools in Nagaland are: GHSS Chumoukedima, GHSS Kiphire, GHS Kiruphema, Mayangnokcha GHSS, GMS Mon Town A, GHS DC Colony Peren Town, GHS Phusachodu, GHSS Thangjam, GHS Wokha Village, and GHS Nyengching.

The day also marked the virtual laying of foundation stones for 23 hostels in Nagaland under DAJGUA, an initiative launched nationally in October 2024 to support tribal development. The scheme, part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, aims to reach over five crore tribal citizens across 63,843 villages through coordinated efforts from 17 central ministries, the update stated.
