MOKOKCHUNG — Telongjem FC registered a comprehensive 3-0 win over Super Senior FC, while debutants Thunderbolt FC defeated Nagaland University Lumami 2-0 at the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2025 held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Wednesday.


In the first match, Telongjem FC’s young squad displayed energy and precision from the outset, overpowering the experienced Super Senior side. Singdulien Khongsai opened the scoring with a brace in the 17th and 30th minutes, followed by Tarepnungsang’s goal in the 34th minute to give Telongjem a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.

Super Senior FC attempted to respond in the second half, creating several chances, but were unable to convert, leaving the youthful Telongjem side to secure a clean sheet. The victory positions Telongjem FC strongly in the early tournament standings, while Super Senior FC will need a win in their next Pool B match against Intermingle to advance to the knockout stage.

In the second match, Thunderbolt FC made a strong debut, defeating Nagaland University Lumami 2-0. Shaomi broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, giving the Yellow & Blue side an early advantage. Despite Nagaland University dominating possession after the break and creating multiple opportunities, Thunderbolt’s defence held firm. Phopang Jolim scored in the 62nd minute to seal the win and maintain a clean sheet.

Nagaland University came close to reducing the deficit on two occasions, but their attempts went wide, ensuring Thunderbolt FC’s victory remained intact.
