DIMAPUR — The Telangana-North East Connect Festival concluded with a panel discussion on “Spirit of the game: connecting Telangana and North East”, featuring prominent sports personalities from Northeast India.
According to an update, it included Bhaichung Bhutia, Mirabai Chanu, and Laishram Sarita Devi. The discussion was moderated by journalist Pradip Phanjoubam and focused on fostering the spirit of connecting Telangana and the Northeast through sports.
Mirabai Chanu, speaking on the occasion, emphasised the need for women to break stereotypes and pursue their passion, encouraging female athletes in Telangana to follow their dreams.

Laishram Sarita Devi shared her journey from a small village to global stardom, highlighting her academy’s efforts to support underprivileged children in boxing.
The panel also included Pullela Gopichand, Dronacharya Awardee from Telangana, and Mantu Debnath, Arjuna Awardee (Gymnastics) from Tripura, among others.
The three-day festival, held at Hitex Exhibition Centre, Telangana, featured cultural events, literary sessions, film screenings, and sports clinics conducted by Northeast Indian athletes. The event also witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding between Telangana and Northeast sports organisations to promote future collaborations.
