A beauty pageant for teenage girls, Miss Teen 2018, was presented on Saturday at Chumukedima Town Council’s hall at Chumukedima in Dimapur. The event was organised by a group of four women from Chumukedima known by the name Ekta (Nagamese for ‘one’) with a tag line “amazing things happen as one.” Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo, a known Naga model, was the guest of honour in the event. In her address during the event, the model spoke against negativism. 'We are bringing our people down and it is us who don't let our people grow.' She urged the people to change their attitude, and not to judge people. The model also appealed to parents to support their children in whatever they do. She said, “If you support them, you get time to mingle and will keep up to date with the kids. Support each other listen to their side of their story. It is beautiful.” Vihienuo also expressed displeasure at the prevalence of tribalism in Nagaland. She requested the people to unite. Fourteen contestants competed for the title. The contestants were college and school girls, residents of Chumukedima. The event consisted of three categories viz., traditional, casual, and the evening gown round. Out of it, six were selected for the final round. Achumbeni Ovung was crowned the first Miss Teen by Ketholeno Kense. The first runner-up title went to Imnasenla Longkumer, and the second runner-up title went to Kilangsungla Longchar. Other winners include Miss Social Media Kilangsangla Longchar, Miss Talent Imnasenla Longkumer, Miss Congeniality Thsangshila, Miss Photogenic Achumbeni Ovung, and Miss Perfect Ten Nyanbeni Ezung. The judges for the event were Miss Nagaland 2017 Marina Kiho; founder and director for Ethnic Trendzanda Organization Gihutoli Khulu; founder and director of Dreams Unlimited Tiakumzuk; co-founder of Apex Manpower Services Ben Kithan; and proprietor of Fusion store Temsusenla.
