Dimapur, Nov. 2 (EMN): The school of engineering and technology (SET), Nagaland University held its annual technical fest titled ‘Tech Aura 2018’ on the theme, ‘aspire, innovate, empower in the academic complex of the institute at DC court junction, Dimapur.
The 4-day event, which culminated on Nov. 2, is organised to promote technical consciousness in the minds of the young generations. The event aims at providing a platform for students to showcase their talent in technical knowledge and to create an atmosphere of technological presence to the society.
Prof. S. Venugopal, director of NIT Nagaland, who was the special invitee, said that because of superstitious thoughts rather than scientific thinking, only few kings attend events related to industrial development during the 17 and 18 centuries and said that this is one reason why India lacked in industrial revolution.
He also said that during the 20th century, the county lacked in industrial revolution because of World War - I and WW-II and the struggle for freedom. However, he said that the 21st century belongs to information technology and added that youngsters have contributed a lot and brought so many wealth to the country through foreign exchange. “(The) county achieved lot of transformation by their hard work,” said Prof. Venugopal.
Highlighting about the future era, the professor said that it belongs to robotics and automation technology which requires knowledge in multidisciplinary areas.
“...we should learn biology for making bio inspired robotics, mathematics for analysis, programming for computer simulation, mechanical system, signal system, sensors, artificial intelligence,” said the NIT director.
He further said that the young generations have so many online courses like NPTEL, MIT, COURSERA and etc. and therefore advised the students to use all existing resources to excel in their multidisciplinary skill.
Saying that the nation is dependent on the students to make the country better, Venugopal encouraged the students to join higher study for developing skills to fulfil the needs of the present society and to work for the unity of the country. Another official, Shanchamo Yanthan, in his speech, said the students should develop skill set and encouraged the students not to spend time working for destructive things but to develop constructive hobbies, solve problems for the family, society and the nation.
The organisers extended gratitude and thanked the Prof. S. K. Sharma, Prof. S. Venugopal, Prof. T. Lanusosang, Akangjungshi Longkumer, lectures and participants and volunteers for making the TechAura 2018 a grand success, this was stated in a press statement issued by the asst. prof. in-charge, dept of computer science and engineering, Ramesh Singh.
