Dimapur, Jan. 29 (EMN): Mourners from all walks of life bade a tearful farewell to Penmi Phazang Kikon, wife of Member of Legislative Assembly Mmhonlumo Kikon on Jan. 29 at the funeral service held in the private residence of the bereaved legislator, near Tolouvi village in Dimapur, DPRO updates informed on Mon.
Union Minister State for Home Kiren Rijiju, who also attended the funeral service, expressed grief with the legislator and wished for peace of the deceased soul.
Describing the journey of life to be full of uncertainties, Rijiju opined that during the journey of life, one has to value life and have love and compassion.
The chief minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang recalled the times when late Kikon attended church service in the CM’s banquet hall and said that he found her to be a God-fearing woman who could have rendered much services to the state if not for her untimely demise. He conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace.
A heart-touching speech of the bereaved legislator moved the gathering to tears. Testifying to his wife Apen as the one and only love of his life, Kikon said that he was deeply saddened and could not accept the reality that she would leave him so soon at such a young age. He described his late wife as a gentle soul, patient, loving, caring; his best friend, counselor, and tower of his strength.
“From human reason point of view I cannot comprehend and though God has his own plans I still say it’s not fair,” Kikon said. He promised to her departed wife that he would march ahead with the visions they had together.
“I will miss her dearly and her absence would be irreplaceable and deeply felt,” he said. He thanked all for coming to pay their last respect to his beloved wife.
Condolence message of many including Governor PB Acharya was read out during the funeral service. Friends of the late Kikon, family members; members of the Lotha Hoho, representatives from the Tangkhul community and many others spoke during the event reflecting on memories and cherishing the life of Penmi Phazang Kikon. She leaves behind her husband and two daughters.

Governor: The governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has expressed shock and grief at the demise of Penmi Phazang Kikon, wife of legislator Mmhonlumo Kikon on Jan. 28 at Dimapur.
In a condolence message addressed to Kikon, the governor said that Penmi’s loving, caring and understanding nature would not be forgotten. “She was a guiding pillar and great support to you” the governor said.
Acharya conveyed his heartfelt condolences to all members of the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty God to grant strength and solace at this time of grief.
NDDP: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) expressed shock and grief over the demise of Penmi Phazang Kikon, wife of MLA Mmhonlumo Kikon.
All rank and file of the party have extended condolence to Kikon, his family and well wishers. It also prayed to God Almighty to give strength and solace to the bereaved family and the departed soul rest in peace.
The Dimapur District Lotha GBs Union of Dimapur (DDLGBU) has expressed grief and pain at the passing away of Penmi Phazang Kikon, wife of Kikon, MLA of the 40th Bhandari assembly constituency.
The union conveyed heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed that the deceased would rest in peace.
Advisor Irrigation & Flood Control and SIRD Tovihoto Ayemi has expressed shock to learn the news about the demise of Penmi Phazang on Jan. 28 in Dimapur.
Ayemi lamented that in her passing ‘we have lost a wonderful being, gentle soul and a woman of distinguished humanity.’
“Even as people depart from this earth, yet they never truly leave for they still live on in human hearts,” the message added.
“Words may not suffice to express the sadness that I feel for your loss but I pray to Almighty God to grant you comfort and provide strength to tide over the loss. I offer my deepest sympathies to you and your family,” Ayemi said addressing the bereaved.
The advisor stated to be praying for eternal peace of the departed soul.
The Nagaland unit of the BJYM has expressed sadness over the demise of Penmi Kikon. The party has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and offered prayed for the departed soul and family bereaved members.
The minority wing of the NPF mourns the demise of Penmi Phazang.
The unit’s President Bishnu Bhattacharjee expressed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for departed soul to rest in peace.
: Tetso College in Dimapur has expressed sadness to learn about the death of Penmi Phazang Kikon, wife of Mmhonlumo Kikon.
“Our heartfelt prayers and condolence goes out to the family during this very difficult time. We continue to pray that God’s strength, peace and comfort may be with the whole family, especially their two little daughters to help them remain strong at this time,” a message from the institution read. Members of the college also pray for the departed soul to rest in peace, the condolence stated.

All rank and file of the party have expressed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family, a message from the unit stated. “Humble and God fearing she was may our good Lord grant the departed soul eternal peace,” the message added. The unit prays for peace and solace to the bereaved family.
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) spokesperson, Achumbemo Kikon has expressed sadness at the demise of Penmi Phazang. The party’s spokesman conveyed heartfelt condolence and prayer to the bereaved family and also prayed for the deceased to rest in peace.
