DIMAPUR — Team Metamorphosis, a Wokha-based non-governmental organisation, in association with Apex motors, Dimapur, along with Shaki village-based group Hungjantaren Okho and students of Lovely Professional University, Punjab, undertook a plantation drive in Shaki village on Saturday on the theme “Plant more trees and save the earth.”
An update from the organisation stated that the tree saplings planted on Saturday were mostly ornamental such as Japanese Sakura donated by friends from Khezhakeno and other species like Gul Mohor.
“As responsible citizens, planting a tree is good but not enough observing the frequency at which the earth’s climate and environment is deteriorating. Therefore, the message to plant more trees as much as possible at least in places where we reside is to be reminded to all concerned,” the team said.
It added that the little act of consciousness that one does as concerned citizen could contribute a lot for a better health of the mother earth which ultimately benefits its inhabitants.
