
WOKHA — Team Metamorphosis, a Wokha-based NGO, organised a felicitation ceremony on Saturday to honour Dr. Thungdemo Kyong, the founder of the NGO, for receiving honourary doctorates in the Preservation of Indigenous Culture and Social Work on November 21 in Delhi.
The awards were conferred by the World Culture and Environment Commission and the Iconic Peace Award Council (IPAC) in recognition of his contributions and service.
Founded in 2005 by Dr. Thungdemo, Team Metamorphosis has been serving the community and was awarded the Governor’s Gold Medal in 2017. The NGO is involved in blood donations, social work, and skill training for self-help groups (SHGs) and the educated unemployed in Wokha district.
In his address, Dr. Thungdemo thanked his team and family for their support. He recounted his childhood, his return to faith, and attributed his achievements to God's glory and the resilience of his team. He highlighted the NGO’s efforts since 2014 in preserving indigenous culture and called for a collective effort in community development.
Nzano P Kikon, deputy chairperson of Wokha Town Council, lauded the dedication of Team Metamorphosis and noted that their achievements are a testament to their sacrifices and passion. She encouraged them to continue inspiring the district and the world through their services.
Limathung N Yanthan, president of Lotha Youth Hoho, and Zaremo M Ngullie, speaker of Lotha Students’ Union, both expressed admiration for Dr. Thungdemo's status as a role model and urged the team to continue their inspiring work.
