Team Highlanders clinched the 6th Men’s Open Basketball Tournament at Oriental College Kohima, defeating TMB in the finals.

KOHIMA — Team Highlanders emerged as the champion of the 6th Men’s Open Basketball Tournament hosted by Oriental College, Kohima, at its premises on October 1.
The team beat TMB in the finals, securing 103 points, and walked home with the trophy and INR 50,000. The runner-up team, TMB, secured 67 points and won INR 30,000.
The MVP of the tournament was awarded to Keneitseizo of Team Highlanders.
In the first semi-final match, TMB won against Orca with 97 points, while Highlanders surged past Arrow Farm with 91 points in the second semi-final match.

State Finance Manager, National Health Mission, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Keneingutuo Albert Whuorie, attended the valedictory programme.
Congratulating the college for providing opportunities to the youngsters, he said that the college has always supported sports. He appreciated the teams for showing great sportsmanship and teamwork and further encouraged people to cultivate interest in sports, as it is good for physical and mental health.
A total of 12 teams participated in the championship title at Oriental College, Kohima, from September 30 to October 1.
Oriental College has been hosting the tournament for the past five years with an objective to combat some of the burning concerns among youths today, including fighting depression, anxiety, and unhealthy lifestyles such as gaming addiction, substance use and abuse, and loss of focus in life, and to channel them into a more disciplined and healthy approach through sports.
