Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): Team Dimapur on Covid-19 has resolved to intensify the ongoing random testing and vaccination on war footing till June 30 in crowded areas and markets. As the activity is being conducted for the safety of the public, Team Dimapur has sought the cooperation of the citizens.
The resolution to this effect was taken during its coordination meeting held on Wednesday in the office of commissioner of police, Dimapur. The coordination meeting was convened to take stock of the present Covid-19 situation and evolve strategies for future course of action, a DIPR report stated.
Deliberating on the issues of vaccination, Team Dimapur observed that the death rate has shown a declining trend as many people have started to take the vaccination. While acknowledging the state government for providing sufficient vaccination doses for Dimapur district, Team Dimapur has decided to request for more vaccines considering the high population and as more people are coming forward for vaccination.
Following the resolution to intensify the vaccination drive in the district till June 30, Team Dimapur observed that 13719 doses, presently available in the district, might not be sufficient. The team also observed that the state government, especially the chief secretary, had taken the right decision to restrict stoppage of trains at Dimapur railway station, which has helped drastically in containing the pandemic.
Speaking at the meeting, the nodal officer for Dimapur district, Y Kikheto Sema, has emphasised on the need for continuity of creating awareness in the minds of the people to be disciplined and to get vaccinated saying, “the war is still on” and that the 3rd wave was expected between September/ October.

The deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, informed that the district is now better prepared as the present restrictions in place have worked favourably. On the other hand, while expressing concern for the business community, he has suggested a calibrated approach.
