Dimapur, Sep 7 (EMN): A three day Activity and Competency Learning (ACL) workshop was held at State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMAT) from August 31 to September 1.
In the introductory session, ADC, DMA SSA Kohima Thongsenlo said ACL programme was initiated by SCERT and funded by SSA, SMA. He briefed the aims of ACL which was activity oriented focusing on the capability of each learners. He lamented that there was partial implementation of ACL despite of being started in 2012. He further urged untrained teachers to get trained keeping in mind the recently act of parliament.
Reader SCERT, Thunchibemo while highlighting the concept on ACL, opined that successful implementation of ACL would solve many problems of education at the nascent stage. He divulged that ACL embraced full of activities which were extracted from school syllabus. He also mentioned various factors affecting government schools such as poor enrolment, qualified but unskilled teachers, Communitisation Act, sincerity and dedication of teachers.
The inaugural programme was chaired by co-ordinator EBRC L.Khel, Visato Koso who asked the gathering to benefit maximum from ACL workshop for further implementation at school for quality education.
On the first resource persons Peteneilhou, TOTs Chiephobozou on ACL concept; Ruth, PT from GPS Minister Hill, and Peletuonou, TOTs from L.Khel shared on learning ladder logo & grouping.
Demonstration class on ACL was showcased by Ruth and Peletuonou on the following day.
On the third session, teacher trainees took pledge on Swacch Pakhwada and various peer works participated in group activities and presentations.
In the valedictory session, Director SCERT, Khrietou Mezhur emphasised on the importance of activity based learning whereby due care should be given to child learners. He stressed on the significance of constructivist approach to education while teachers to enhance their skills, efficiency, method, technique and update knowledge often through professional course of training and refresher course. Feedback of workshop was felicitated from all EBRC blocks.
