
KOHIMA — Acknowledging the manifold challenges in the functioning of schools, the district education officer-cum-district project coordinator of DMA, SS Kohima, Emilo Patton, urged the head of schools to convert all the challenges into opportunities to bring about positive changes in the education sector.
She stated this during a one-day orientation on school self evaluation on Shaala Siddhi held at Ura Academy Hall in Kohima. The officer said the success and achievement of any schools depended on the quality of education and stated that Shaala Sidhi was launched to create a culture of continuous improvement in schools by promoting self education.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Pointing out that education is a continuous learning process; she said schools occupy the most important agency of education and added that unless schools are run properly, quality education will not take place. She maintained that school heads are directly involved in the process of students' education and are responsible for all the happenings in the schools.
Patton further stated that Shaala Siddhi empowers schools to take ownership to work towards achieving excellence in all aspects of education adding that it has become a very important instrument for every school.
Resource persons were Dr. Chumbeni Kikon, joint mission director of SMA; Rukuzo Hoshi, state coordinator of SMA; and Orenvungo Yanthan, PGT at RGHSS Kohima.
The resource persons have delved on the importance of self evaluation for improvement.
The seven domains of the Shaala Siddhi namely enabling resources of school namely availability, adequacy and usability; teaching-learning and assessment; learners' progress, attainment and development; managing teacher performance and professional development; school leadership and management; inclusion, health and safety and productive community participation were expounded by the resource persons.
The programme was led by Ruokuoneinuo, project assistant DMA, SS Kohima, and vote of thanks was proposed by Peteneilhou, project assistant DMA, SS Kohima.
