Dimapur, Aug. 18 (EMN): School representatives were sensitised on scholarship schemes like pre-matric minority scholarship for Class I to X, NGSSMA, and pre-matric scholarship for scheduled tribe students of Class IX and X.
School representatives from Kohima district and Pughoboto sub-division were trained during a sensitisation of scholarship scheme programme organised by the District Education Officer (DEO), Kohima, on August 16 held at TM GHSS auditorium, Kohima.
The resource persons of the programme were Limadangit Jamir, Deputy Director and Scholarship Nodal Officer; Jangsemba Tzudir, UDA (scholarship); and Zurhetho Nyuthe, special educator (scholarship). The programme was chaired by Y Mary Zhimomi, DEO, Kohima. Altogether, 119 participants from different schools attended the programme.
It was revealed that ignorance and unwillingness of the authority concerned to take extra trouble during the past years that nothing much could be done for the students in regard to scholarships. It, however, admitted that scholarship is an excellent source of motivation where the children felt valued and included. It also reduces the rate of drop outs.
The concerned authority has targeted to achieved 100% coverage to all eligible children.
