Dimapur, November 19
Thanks to the Nagaland government’s yet another failure to submit utilization certificates to the Ministry of Human resource Development, teachers are bearing the brunt by not receiving salary, a local teachers’ organization has stated on Thursday, November 19.
Nagaland Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA) informed on Thursday that the leaders of the group held a meeting on November 17 in the NAPO conference hall in Kohima ‘to discuss about the salary issue.’
The meeting was called to highlight the various problems that have ‘come about in paying the salary of RMSA teachers in time,’ the organization stated on Thursday in a press release.
‘It has been learnt that the main reason for the salary being delayed is because of the fact that the Utilization Certificate (UC) had not been submitted to MHRD,’ the organizers stated.
In a meeting with the RMSA officials on November 19 “we were informed that the Utilization Certificate had been submitted. But through an RTI filled to the MHRD on 15.10.2019 and the reply dated 28.10.2015, it has come to light that the UC for disbursement of salaries for GTs from 2014-15 is still awaited from the state government,” the group said.
“We will like to question why such irregularities are taking place. It is also a request to concerned authorities to do the needful in time to avoid such lapses.”
“The Education department is tirelessly working for smooth functioning at every aspect of the department. But salary of the teachers should be the top most priorities. It should not be compromised at any cost,” the organization stated in lament.
“At present, the blame game is going on, the functioning system of RMSA has been questioned and the teachers have been requested to bear with the hardships. However, we would like to state that we have endured enough hardship and humiliation for not being paid in spite of performing our duties as expected.”
The teachers have warned that they were ready to take up any course of action. “However considering the welfare of the students, the RMSA Teachers have been compelled to put the boycott of classes on hold till now.”
The group has requested the authorities in concern to “kindly take necessary measures with all sincerity and seriousness to solve our salary issue and make it a point to release our salary in time.”
The press release was appended by NRMSATA’s president, Thezazelie Tase and the media in-charge, Mepfhiio.
