Dimapur, September 5: TUENSANG: In Tuensang, Teachers’ Day celebration was held at GHSS auditorium, Tuensang, attended by teachers from within Tuensang district along with students. A total of 28 teachers were also awards on the occasion.
Special guest and Additional Superintendent of Police, Tuensang, Longpoksang Lemtur, congratulated the recipients of district awardees and delivered a brief history of how Teachers’ Day found its place.
Stating that role of teachers has become wider in the present context with the development of the information technologies, he said teachers have to play multi role of a facilitator, mentor, counselor, disciplinarian and also coordinate with other teachers.
He also gave away certificates of excellence to the District Awardees.
The welcome address was delivered by I Sashi Ao, Deputy DEO Tuensang, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Jongshimongla, SDEO Tuensang.
ZUNHEBOTO: The 55th Teachers’ Day celebration in Zunheboto was held at Town Hall, Zunheboto, with SDO(C) Sadar, Holohon Yepthomi as the chief guest.
Addressing the programme, the chief guest said teachers are the backbone of the society and thanked the teaching fraternity for their tireless dedication in shaping the future generations of the country despite hardships. He said teacher’s job is confined not only to teaching but also in bringing students to the right path.
He urged the teachers to be a role model for their students and also encouraged them to have a strong inter-personal relationship with students so as to bring joy and happiness. With the celebration, the chief guest hoped that teachers will rededicate, renew their passion and zeal towards teaching and in molding the students in future endeavours. The chief guest also gave away awards to 26 teachers on the occasion.
Mon: In Mon, Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Council Hall, Mon town, with the Deputy Commissioner, Mon, W Honje Konyak, as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion W Honje Konyak said teachers are the backbone of society and nation who play vital role in molding and shaping the life of students in making them become an ideal citizens. He said teachers should be honoured and respected by society and appealed to the students to pay respect to the teachers.
Stressing on good teaching, he said it is a passion by teaching them to learn, it is about not being rigid but being flexible to changing situation and circumstances, it is about a style accompanied with entertainment where the students learn with fun.
Congratulating the award recipients, he reminded them that it is a responsibility and a task ahead for them to rededicate and work harder.
Altogether 15 teachers were awarded for their meritorious service and contribution in the field of education in Mon district.
WOKHA: Teachers’ Day celebration in Wokha was held at Wokha Town Hall with the Project Director of DRDA, Wokha, Thungdeno Mozhui, as the chief guest.
Sharing her thoughts and experiences as a student, the chief guest cited examples of great personalities all over the world. She said teachers make us strong and prepare to withstand obstacles of life. Besides, she said teachers are guides who play important role in transforming a student into a responsible citizen and help reach their aims.
On the occasion, ten teachers from different institutions under the district were awarded for their contributions.
PUGHOBOTO: Pughoboto Sub-Division celebrated Teacher’s Day at Town Hall with the minister of Roads & Bridges, Y Vikheho Swu, as the chief guest.
The minister expressed happiness at the administration and SDEO, and Sumi Aphuyemi Teachers Welfare Association (SATWA) for jointly organising the programme. He said September 5 is a special day for the teachers where the country also celebrates the birth anniversary of a great teacher Dr. S Radhakhrisna, who was a firm believer of education and was a well-known diplomat, scholar and the 2nd President of India.
The chief guest mentioned that teachers are the source of knowledge and wisdom who play great role in building the characters of students. Apart from academics, Swu said a good teacher motivates, guides and inspires the student in many good things. He lauded all the teachers for their outstanding contributions to society in shaping the future of the students.
He also gave away seven teachers day awards with cash and certificates.
Pfutsero: Pfutsero town celebrated combined Teachers’ Day 2016 at Pfutsero Sports Complex organised by Pfutsero Town School Association (PTSA) with the Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Morohu Chotso, as the chief guest.
In his speech, the chief appreciated all the teachers for rendering selfless service for the uplift of the society and also congratulated all the teachers who were awarded for their service. He said teachers are planners, advisors, mentors, designers and the great artist for future society.
Altogether 4664 students and 311 teachers from 15 institutions attended the programme.
On the occasion, seven teachers were given sub-divisional award by SDEO Pfutsero.
Chetheba: Chetheba Students’ Union (CSU) organised its first combined Teacher’s Day programme at the Chetheba Town Hall on Monday. Four schools namely Government High School, Government Middle School, Chokri Baptist School and Hindi Vidyalaya attended the programme.
The chief guest and Assistant Professor (Economics Department, Dimapur Government College, Medongoi Rhakho, exhorted the teachers to be more dedicated in their profession. He also said teachers should not only focus on the subject alone but also teach them to learn something in life. He also stressed that without proper planning of the lessons, student become least interested in the subject.
