Dimapur, October 30: Colourful and vibrant display of cultural items presented by students of Spring Blossoms Academy, Block-7, Thahekhu village, marked its 3rd parent’s -cum-children’s day in the school premises on October 29 on the theme ‘Time is of essence.’
Speaking on behalf of the parents, Joshua Achumi, chairman of Yemhi Memorial College, Dimapur, and former Deputy Speaker NLA, said education begins from birth and end with grave adding education of humanity is an endless process. He said the first generation of educated Nagas, who hardly did their education upto 5th and 6th Standard, did not opt for lucrative job but went back to their respective areas to impart education to their own people.
Pointing out two types of school in Nagaland-government and private, he said education and training of the former lack sincerity and dedication while the private school teachers are sincere and dedicated thus exceedingly well in all aspects.He urged the teachers to have passion for teaching with sincerity to improve quality of education. Quoting Proverb 1:7, he said teachers should instill in the minds of the children the fear of the Lord which is beginning of wisdom.
Observing that many educated Nagas lacked character, which as a result, has landed themselves in many anti social activities, he urged upon the teachers to build up child’s character by imparting information and knowledge to fight social evils.
Also talking about the roles of parents, he was of the view that every parent has a vital role to play to fulfill the aspirations and dreams of a child. To this, he urged upon parents to devote quality time to their children.
He hoped that the Spring Blossoms Academy would build up its reputation within no time and compete with any school within Nagaland and beyond.
Kitoho S Rotokha, proprietor of the school, delivered the welcome address, while Shetoni K Rotokha presented the administrator’s note, and Kivitoli Kiba, English teacher, proposed vote of thanks. Shikatoli Wotsa pronounced the benediction.
I Khekuto Yeputhomi, chairman of Thahekhu village council, and a parents gave away prizes to meritorious students.
