The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) provided financial assistance to the fire affected women vendors and traders, which broke out on February 27 at Mao and NN Markets in Kohima.
An update from tEA informed that a total of 23 women received varying amounts depending on their needs. tEA, in partnership with the Caring Friends from Mumbai, provided the financial assistance to the affected victims in order to help them rebuild their businesses. It has informed to provide more support in the days to come.
The organisation expressed hope that the support would comfort them at this point of need and encourage them to rebuild their businesses.
“Many of the women beneficiaries today were widows, single mothers and sole breadwinners of their families who are facing difficult times with their livelihoods completely crushed by the fire accident,” it informed.
It added that the accident, which could have been avoided had the fire department been more prepared, has drawn the attention of people from all walks of life from within and outside the state. It said the incident has thrown light on the unpreparedness of the concerned departments to face calamities and disasters.
Report added that the programme was held at its head office in Kohima, wherein a short prayer was said by Rev. Kedo Peseyie, pastor of City Church.
