
DIMAPUR —Training on TDS registration and return filling for DDO and accounts officers under Dimapur district was held at the training hall of the Commissioner of Taxes in Dimapur on Wednesday on the theme "Taxpayers are the backbone of nation's progress."
The resource person, Orenponi Yanthan, explained that TDS is a tax deducted at source, which is a mechanism to collect tax for the government. She stated that a department or establishment of the central government or state government, local authority, governmental agencies or category of persons notified by the government is required to deduct TDS, a DIPR report stated.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]She informed that checklist for obtaining registration would require a photo of the DDO or authorised signatory; a land document of the premises or office such as an electricity bill, telephone Bill, rent receipt etc; class 2 or above (DSC digital signature certificate (mandatory for company) or Adhaar based e-signature or EVC electronic verification code for others.
Another resource person and assistant commissioner of Taxes, Yanbeni Humtsoe, has explained on tax clearance certificate (TCC) guidelines for DDO. She informed that the first duty of a deductor was to obtain online registration at www.gst.gov.in.
The training was organised by the department of state Taxes.
The welcome and keynote address was delivered by Y Mhathung Murry, special commissioner of state Taxes, while the closing remark was delivered by Wochamo Odyuo, additional commissioner of Taxes.
