Kevichüsa and Kagunchungliu Kamei
- DIMAPUR — The
Taekwon-do Association of Nagaland (TAN) clinched a gold and another bronze
medal at the 39th National ITF Taekwon-do Championship held from 27th to the
29th December, 2024, in Goa.
- In an update, the TAN informed that the six-member team
displayed exceptional talent and dedication at the prestigious event, with
Michael Kevichüsa securing gold medal and Kagunchungliu Kamei a bronze.
- The Nagaland team included Atunato Victor Kinny, Imna Toshi
Longchar, Kagunchungliu Kamei, Paugayibe Disuang, Mereh Doulo and Michael
Kevichüsa.
- Michael Kevichüsa, the state head of TAN, remarked, “The
students performed exceptionally well considering it was their first time
competing at the national level.”
- Master Narender Singh Rawat, technical advisor of the
Taekwon-Do Association of India and recipient of the International Outstanding
Instructor Award, earlier commented, “Nagaland has the potential to even win at
the World Championships.”
- Michael Kevichüsa will represent India at the 23rd ITF
Taekwon-Do World Championships, scheduled for October 2025 in Italy. A seasoned
martial artist, Michael has been competing and winning medals at the state,
national, and international levels since the age of 13.
- He also represented India at the 10th Asian ITF Taekwon-Do
Championships in August 2024.
- “The achievements at the 39th National Championship mark a
significant milestone for TAN and underscore Nagaland’s growing prominence in
the world of martial arts,” the update added.
