Dimapur, April 12 (EMN): Another village is in. Tammong village in Mon district on Thursday became the district’s 105th village. The village was inaugurated by M Noke Wangnao, advisor for Social Welfare, Home Guards and Civil Defence.
A press release from the DIPR on Thursday informed about the inauguration of the new village.
Speaking during the inaugural function, Wangnao hoped that Tammong village would be a model village for the neighboring villages. He has urged members of the new village to keep their environment clean and hygienic. Developing the village depends solely on its members, he said. ‘Even if the state government supply schemes and developmental activities, the villagers are responsible for proper implementation,’ he told the gathering.
‘Unity is very important for all round development of the village and without it, the village cannot go forward,’ he said. He asked the officers of the area to be sincere and to work hard for the uplift of the people.
The deputy commissioner of Mon K Thavaseelan also spoke during the event. He said April 12 was a Red Letter day for Tammong village. The recognition of the village was necessary for proper development of its people, he said. The district administration will be in ‘full support for proper implementation’ of all the schemes for the development of Tammong village, the administrator said.
The chief angh of Mon village was among those who spoke during the function.
