Imphal,Sep. 4 (EMN): Civil society organisations (CSO) of Tamenglong district headquarters decided to submit a memorandum to Chief Minister of Manipur to provide adequate number of doctors, specialists and other infrastructures at the Tamenglong district hospital and Nungba Community Health Centre(CHC).
The decision was taken during a meeting of the CSOs of Tamenglong district headquarters led by Society for enhancing Tamenglong, The Forerunners, Inriangluang Chabuan Phuam, The Rainforest Clubs Tamenglong and members of Liangmai Naga Council, Tousem Area Students’ Organisation along with some church leaders at Zeliangrong Evangelistic Fellowship (ZEF)
The meeting was held at conference hall in Tamenglong town,150 km west of Imphal on Monday, reports said.
The meeting expressed unhappy over the recent move of the government to utilise the doctors and specialists of Tamenglong District Hospital for other CHC. It also expressed dissatisfaction over the step-motherly treatment meted out to Tamenglong by the government by utilizing the gynaecologist and paediatrician of Tamenglong district hospital which should have a total of 32 doctors. Presently there are only 9 doctors/specialists posted at the hospital.
The meeting also resolved to take up other issues besetting the District Hospital in regard to the need for upgrading infrastructural facilities and laboratory testing equipment, streamlining Biometric attendance for both the lower staff and the doctors, and other issues of posting staff especially at the rural areas.
