Talk on ‘understanding GST from Nagaland perspective’

Dimapur, August 10 (EMN): The department of Economics, Alder College organised a talk on “Understanding GST from Nagaland Perspective” with the department of Taxes, on August at Dr. Setu Memorial Hall. The resource person, Sentila Sanglir, Inspector of Taxes, gave details on the subsumption of taxes under the GST regime. She presented the account on applicability and benefits of the new tax regime. The main features of GST were enumerated and its impact on Nagaland. The doubts of the students pertaining to how the GST can root out black money; why GST is not levied on tobacco and liquor; why GST on exports are zero and the questions regarding implementation and its effects were clarified by Merenkaba, Inspector of Taxes; Vizayie Kar, Inspector of Taxes; Zuthungbemo Ovung, Inspector of Taxes. HOD, Economics department of Alder College, Kholi Lohrii, delivered welcome note and presented the keynote address while vote of thanks was proposed by Manshom Wagnao, assistant professor, department of Economics.
