Dimapur, July 25(EMN): Member of State Legislative Assembly, Azheto Zhimomi, has urged the Power department to take the ‘Bijili Mahatsov’ project to the rural and remote villages.
The MLA said though all the departments are important and play vital roles but the power departments is one of the most essential and important departments.
Azheto therefore asked the department officers to be sincere and maintain professionalism and also not to neglect remote areas and villages so that the state can develop.
He was addressing the ‘Bijili Mahatsov’ programme held at at Sovima Village Council Hall, Chumoukedima, on Monday.
The ‘Bijili Mahatsov’ under the umbrella of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya power @2047 was organized by the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to celebrate 75 years of India's Independence.
Calling upon the department officers as well as consumers not to indulge in corruption, the MLA said they should cooperate and work together to bring growth in the state.
Pointing out that many consumers hesitate to pay their bills resulting in the Power department incurring hundred crores deficit every year, he said that when the government is providing electricity, the consumers on their part should also pay for the same.
Azheto also said that Chümoukedima being one of the new districts, its citizens must focus on how to take the district forward and make it the best district in Nagaland.
He further said that Chümoukedima citizens should maintain unity “without any minority or majority issues”.
“Being named the ‘District of opportunity’ we should set a good example to others, he added.
Manager (Civil) NEEPCO Ltd., Er. Zachamao Ovung, in his keynote address appealed to the consumers to use power judiciously and pay bills in time so that they can get quality and uninterrupted power.
Thepfukeduo Kuotsu and Lhouvi Punyü who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed their gratitude to the government. The beneficiaries also forwarded their concerns and appeals to the Power department.
During the programme, short films on capacity addition, one nation one grid, renewable energy, universal household electrification, village electrification and distribution system strengthening, were also screened.
