TaFMA organises Starmaker Masterclass

  • KOHIMA — The Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), government of Nagaland  successfully conducted the Starmaker Masterclass, a skill-building workshop designed for emerging artistes, under the flagship #SkillingNagaland initiative on May 29.

  • The programme aimed to equip young musicians with the tools, knowledge, and insights necessary to navigate the modern music industry and pursue a sustainable career in the arts.

  • The masterclass began with a welcome address by Theja Meru, Chairman of TaFMA, who encouraged participants to learn with an open mind, remain committed to their growth, and work hard in pursuit of their dreams.

  • He emphasised that discipline, curiosity, and persistence are just as important as talent in today’s evolving creative landscape.

  • Held at CEMA – Centre for Excellence in Music and Arts, Kohima, the workshop featured a series of insightful sessions led by accomplished professionals.

  • Topics covered included preparing press kits and tech riders, networking and pitching for live shows, using backing tracks, understanding IPRS and artiste rights, getting stage-ready, and tips for successful touring.

  • The resource persons included Temsujungba Jamir, Sosang Lkr,  Thejakielie Zuyie, Iuli Yeptho, Alobo Naga and Imnamoang Imchen, who shared their expertise and personal journeys from years in the music industry.

  • Following the sessions, a Q&A and interaction segment allowed participants to engage more deeply with the speakers and clarify their queries.

  • The Starmaker Masterclass concluded with a valedictory session led by Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Project Director of TaFMA, who thanked all the speakers and participants for their enthusiastic involvement. The event ended with a certificate distribution ceremony, recognizing the commitment of all those who took part.

  • The workshop is part of TaFMA’s ongoing efforts to nurture talent and build professional capacity in Nagaland’s creative economy through the #SkillingNagaland initiative.
