Kohima, April 27 (EMN): The first edition of the ‘Nizheto Awomi Memorial Table Tennis Championship’ which commenced on April 25 in the TT Indoor Stadium in Kohima concluded on Friday evening.
In the men’s singles, Dijanglung Kamson emerged the champion while Athisii Andrew took the runner-up prize. In the men’s doubles, Dijanglung and Meihomlung defeated Zichungthung and Hekito Sema in the final match to take home the doubles' trophy.
In women’s single, Avitoli Yepthomi beat Viphretuonuo Meze to take the title.
In the youth singles category, Kevilevor Metha was the champion and Ihubuing Haikube the runner-up. In the youth doubles ,Ihubuing and Metevito beat Abinar and Kuzuvehu to win the final match.
All the winners were awarded with certificate, running trophy, and a cash prize.
Akhala N Awomi, wife of late Nizheto Awomi, gave away the awards to the winners during the closing ceremony.
The three-day tournament is organised by Quasar Club in collaboration with the Kohima District Table Tennis Association.
