golden jubilee celebration of the Sirhima Youth and Students' Union held at
Sirhima village on December 29.
DIMAPUR — The Sirhima Youth and Students'
Union (SYSU) celebrated its golden jubilee on December 29, themed "Half a
century: towards a limitless future,” at Sirhima village, Medziphema
Sub-Division.
The event was attended by delegates from far and wide, with
L Singsit, president of Kuki Inpi Nagaland, as the special guest.
According to a DIPR report, Singsit, speaking on the
occasion, emphasised the importance of prioritising one's goals and objectives
to achieve success. He encouraged the youth to dream big, persevere through
hardships, and make conscious decisions.
Thangjamang, president of the Kuki Students' Organisation,
Nagaland (KSON), and the guest of honour, released the anniversary souvenir and
urged youth leaders to serve their community with love and dedication.
He also appealed to parents and elders to continue
supporting the progress of the youth in society. Several other dignitaries also
spoke at the occasion.
Earlier, Singsit unveiled the jubilee monolith. Rev.
Lamkholun Singson, youth secretary of KBAN, pronounced the dedicatory prayer,
while Rev. David Vaiphei, ES KBAN, led the invocation and obituary. Seitinngam
Singson, chairman of SYSU, delivered the welcome address.
The jubilee night session, the culmination of the celebration,
was attended by C Singson, social worker, and Seikhongam Haokip, director of
ADP, SAP Application Support APAC, Global Portal, and Workforce, as special
guest and guest of honour, respectively.
The event also featured performances by local Kuki artistes,
including Nengsi Vaiphei, Doumin Khongsai, Kaimang Hangsing, and Joseph
Thomsong.
Tsakou Youth Association: The Tsakou Youth Association
(TYA), P Khel, Kohima village, celebrated its 50th anniversary on December 29
at Sotenuomia Mechiiki, Gariizou, with Thejawelie Gregory Sote, commissioner
and secretary to the government of Nagaland, Department of Water Resources, as
the chief guest.
According to an update, Gregory, on the occasion, unveiled
the golden jubilee monolith at Tsakou Rhiiba Mechiiki, followed by the hoisting
of the jubilee flag at the main venue.
Reflecting on the association’s journey, Gregory cited and
acknowledged the visionary elders and leaders who sacrificed and worked
tirelessly for the upliftment of the community.
He praised the TYA leaders, both past and present, for
successfully tackling the challenges and goals related to education,
employment, and cleanliness, which were envisioned during the Silver Jubilee
celebration in 1999.
He also emphasised the importance of building and nurturing
one’s own family, which plays a significant role in creating a just society. He
placed special emphasis on balancing the ambitions of the youth with the wisdom
of the elders in building a progressive society based on truthfulness and
fostering what is right and just.
The president of the TYA, Theyiesanyii Sote, presented a
brief report on the activities and events related to the year-long celebration
of the association’s golden jubilee.
He also presented a statistical report on the achievements
of its members in the fields of academics, competitive exams, medical and
engineering streams, sports, and various other professional and
non-professional courses.
Citing examples of some of its members working and pursuing
higher studies abroad, the president also encouraged the youths to broaden
their vision and dream beyond the ordinary.
The event also saw the presence of invitees from various
associations, as well as well-wishers from the extended families of the Tsakou
Rhüba.
