The administration of Phek district has issued a notice asking all livestock farmers and citizens who have livestock, in Phek district, to get certification from the veterinary authorities in view of what the administration called “swine flu fever.”
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of the district, Kuko Mero, stated in a notice on Thursday, September 17, that there was “pig swine fever” in Phek town.
“All animals (pigs) slaughtered for human consumption need to get certification from veterinary department before the red meat is put up in the market for sale.
The administration has stated that a team of technicians and veterinarians will be available in the PTC office for inspection.
“All pig farmers (sic) who intend to slaughter their animal (pig) for sale are hence directed to contact PTC office for inspection and issue of certification,” the district’s administration stated.
“The sale of meat without certification will be subjected to seizure and prosecuted under Section 453 of Nagaland Municipal Act. All colony chairman/GBs are to report and make seizure if any such cases arise in their respective colonies.”
