DIMAPUR — The National Health Mission (NHM), in collaboration with Swasthi – The Health Catalyst and its partner entities, formally handed over a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) vehicle to the Department of Health and Family Welfare in Kohima on Thursday.
The handing over follows the completion of the project on MMUs and the promotion of social protection services in Zunheboto district, according to a press release.
The partner entities included the Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) and TATA AIG General Insurance Company Limited. The vehicle was handed over for the continuation of services during a programme held at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima.
The aforementioned services are presently being implemented in the Kiphire district under a memorandum of understanding between the two parties and will be expanded to other districts in a phased manner.

Additionally, Swasthi – The Health Catalyst has also provided blood bank equipment to the District Hospital Mon, and such support will be extended to other hospitals as well.
N Rambabu from Swasthi – The Health Catalyst, Bangalore, delivered a brief presentation on the MMU activities in Zunheboto and Kiphire districts, highlighting the operational model and the expected impact in enhancing outreach services. He also reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting community health initiatives through strategic partnerships.
The programme culminated in the formal signing of documents and the handing over and taking over of the MMU vehicle from Swasthi and its partners to the Department of Health and Family Welfare in the presence of concerned authorities.
The newly inducted MMU is expected to significantly improve last-mile healthcare delivery in Zunheboto district by providing essential medical services directly to communities, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.
