Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan health camps in Longleng, Mon and Wokha promoted women’s health and preventive care.

DIMAPUR — The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA) health camps were conducted by the district health societies (DHS) of Longleng, Mon, and Wokha across multiple villages and health centres between September 25 and 27.
The initiative aimed at promoting women’s health, strengthening family well-being, and raising awareness on preventive healthcare, stated a press release.
Longleng: In Longleng, the DHS organised health camps at Buranamsang village under Primary Health Centre (PHC) Buranamsang on September 25 and at Tamlu Community Health Centre (CHC) on September 26.
The camps focused on general health check-ups, maternal and child health consultations, screening for non-communicable diseases, counselling sessions and focused group discussions, and distribution of essential medicines. Specialised services were also provided in dentistry, ophthalmology, medicine, dermatology, and gynaecology.

Awareness sessions on nutrition, hygiene, and women’s health were conducted to encourage healthy practices at the community level. A total of 164 beneficiaries attended the camp at Buranamsang, while 249 benefitted at Tamlu CHC.
Mon: In Mon, health camps were held on September 27 across Pessao Sub-Centre (SC), Ukha SC, Changlang SC, Tuimei SC, Leangnyu SC, Angjangyang SC, Tang PHC, and Phomching PHC.
At Angjangyang SC, 53 beneficiaries were recorded: 11 screened for non-communicable diseases, 7 antenatal check-ups, 20 immunisations, and 15 malaria screenings. Counselling sessions focused on menstrual hygiene and adolescent health.
Tang PHC registered 112 participants, including 64 children immunised, 6 antenatal check-ups, and 17 malaria screenings. Awareness on menstrual hygiene, family planning, and immunisation was also provided, along with IEC leaflets distributed in the local dialect.
Phomching PHC registered 83 beneficiaries, including 53 NCD screenings, 5 paediatric consultations, and 22 general health check-ups.
Changlang SC, in collaboration with the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) team, recorded 24 NCD screenings, 19 vaccinations, and 18 malaria screenings. Leangnyu SC reported 22 NCD screenings and 7 vaccinations, alongside health talks, while Ukha SC reported 44 immunisations and 18 malaria screenings.
It was mentioned that the SNSPA campaign is being implemented across all health units in the district through specialist health camps involving gynaecologists, paediatricians, physicians, dentists, and eye specialists, and regular health camps led by staff of the respective units, providing counselling, group discussions, screenings, immunisation, and antenatal check-ups.
Wokha: In Wokha, a special health camp under SNSPA was conducted at Englan PHC on September 26. Dr. Mhajan Kikon, medical officer of Englan PHC, spoke on the importance of non-communicable disease screening and encouraged pregnant women to undergo antenatal check-ups.
The camp placed focus on maternal and child health, with services provided by Dr. Niya Kath, dermatologist, District Hospital Wokha; Dr. R. Zechano Ezong, medical officer AYUSH, District Hospital Wokha; and Dr. Mhajan.
Services included general health check-ups, AYUSH, dermatology, immunisation, antenatal care, blood sugar and BP tests, free medicines, and IEC leaflets on non-communicable diseases, tuberculosis, malaria, and family planning.
