Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): Surumi village of Zunheboto district and Longsa village of Mokokchung district organised a joint meeting and feast-exchange programme at Surumi village on April 25 to mark the “friendship between the two villages for peaceful coexistence.”
It is a tradition that has been practised by the forefathers of the two neighbouring villages (event held in turns), informed an update from DIPR. The Surumi villagers accorded a warm welcome to the villagers of Longsa earlier during the meeting which was held to “further strengthen the bond between the two villages.”
Kheniho Aye, HD GB Surumi village and Er. Shikato Jakhalu, Additional Chief Engineer, Power, spoke on behalf of Surumi village, while Alemtemshi Jamir, IAS retired chief secretary of the state, and L. Imti spoke on behalf of Longsa village during the occasion.
Former MLA Shetoyi Sumi, and president of Sumi Hoho Hekushe Shikhu also spoke during the meeting and people from both the villages performed folk songs.
