Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): Surhoneyi Soho of Phek village emerged the champion of the 25th tournament anniversary of Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) after defeating Vekutho Soho in the final held at Phek town on Fri.
He was awarded a cash prize of INR 1 lakh sponsored by Yitachu, adviser school education, Nagaland. The runners-up Vekutho Soho also from Phek village pocketed INR 70,000 sponsored by Shekhotso Keyho, SDO tourism.
Surhovoyi Nienu of Khomi and Sherayi Rhakho of Khuza village bagged the third and fourth place and received INR 50,000 sponsored by Niehusa Nakro, joint secretary SCERT and INR 30,000 sponsored by Chikho N. Venuh, Class I contractor.
The top four wrestlers along with other eight Vezuhu Khamo- Lozaphuhu, Vekuzo Vezhü-Khomi, Rukusü Lohe-Khomi, Kewecholo Akami-Losami, Putuzo Keyho-Phek, Kuzhoseyi Chizo-Chiepokuta, Shelutso Soho-Phek and Külüveto Venuh-Phek will represent PAWA at the forthcoming Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) meet at Chetheba from February 8 to 9.
Earlier, minister for home Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest.
