- DIMAPUR — Under
the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CM-MOT) programme, a surgical
camp was conducted on February 22 and 23 at District Hospital (DH) Phek. The
CM-MOT was launched to deliver advanced surgical and healthcare services to the
rural and remote areas of Nagaland.
- According to a press release, a brief inaugural programme
was held at Dr. Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, DH, on the occasion. It was
attended by MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, Deputy Commissioner Tsulise Sangtam,
Col. Iqbaljit Singh Bhillon of 39 Assam Rifles, Phek town, town council
members, and staff from the DH and CMO offices.
- At the inaugural programme, Dr. Rhütso shared that the main
purpose of CM-MOT is to provide high-quality healthcare services to
underprivileged communities by visiting all the districts and delivering
life-saving interventions to far-flung and remote areas.
- In his keynote address, the DC conveyed that Phek district
is fortunate to have the CM-MOT surgical team, led by Dr. Rhütso, describing it
as a wonderful programme that reaches out to the poorest communities.
- The surgical team, led by Dr. Rhutso and supported by Dr.
Kenei, Dr. Moa, Dr. Rovino, three OT nurses, and two OT technicians, along with
the surgeons, anaesthetist, and OT staff of the district hospital, performed 30
major surgeries, all using keyhole/laparoscopic procedures.
- It was stated that most cases involved gallbladder stones,
kidney stones, uterine tumours, paediatric hernias, among others. This camp has
particularly benefitted the poor rural people who could not undergo timely
operations due to financial constraints.
