Dimapur, Dec. 16 (EMN): Surayim FC emerged as the champion of the 10th edition of Saramati Soccer Championship after defeating Faith Baller Phuvkiu by 2-1 goals here at the public ground, in Pungro town on Dec. 15.
The 10th edition of Saramati Soccer Championship was organised by Saramati Nexus Club, where the valedictory programme was attended by Advisor Khongsa Area Public Organisation (KAPO) and former executive chairman Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) Shellumthong as the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Shellumthong lauded the Saramati Nexus Club for conducting such an event to mould the career of the budding youths and urged them to continue upholding the spirit of sportsmanship in order to compete in various level of sports and games arena.
The guest of honour also distributed the prize to the winner of the tournament, where Surayim FC, the winner of the tournament walked home with trophy along with a cash prize of INR 60,000. Sungu of Faith Ballers and Johny Chakhesang of Night Warriors were awarded the golden boots while Along of Faith Ballers was awarded the golden glove. Yaplemthong of Surayim was adjudged the best defender and Sinlo Kath of Magnificent Eleven FC bagged the player of the tournament.
