DIMAPUR — Lok
Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) from Nagaland, S Supongmeren Jamir, has greeted
the citizens of Nagaland on the occasion of Statehood Day, December 1.
“Today, as we mark 61 years since Nagaland became the 16th
state of the Union of India on 1st December 1963, let us acknowledge and honour
the untold sacrifices of our pioneering leaders.
“The road to our statehood was paved with the sweat and
tears of a generation, while the journey forward since then has been fuelled
with vision, courage, and dedication. We owe our forefathers, the nurturing
fruits of today and the promise of a brighter tomorrow,” read a message from
the MP.
He called for celebrating the significant milestone by
reaffirming the collective commitment towards the growth and development of
Nagaland, guided by the age old values of honesty and integrity as espoused by
the forefathers.
“I also take this auspicious moment to urge my fellow
citizens, especially the youths, to align their dreams and aspirations with the
collective story of progress and development, as an individual and for the
state,” he said.
In a separate message, Supongmeren extended Christmas
greetings to every citizen of the state.
“Christmas is a time when hearts are filled with gratitude
and homes with laughter, as we reflect on the message of peace, love, and
goodwill that unites us as a community. This season reminds us of the values of
compassion, hope, and unity that define our shared humanity.
“The people of Nagaland have always been known for their
rich traditions, resilience, and deep faith. As we celebrate this season, let
us honour Christ's humility, service, and sacrifice by turning our love into
action—reaching out to those who need our care and light. Let this Christmas
carry a deeper purpose, looking beyond the glittering lights and thoughtful
gifts. May we receive Christ in our hearts, remembering that His incarnation
brought us God's greatest gift: reconciliation and redemption for all,” the
message read.
While wishing for warmth and kindness during the festive
season, the MP stated: “As we step into the New Year, let us move forward with
renewed hope and determination to serve one another, our communities, and our
state. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
