Kohima, Nov. 20 (EMN): Suolahie Theiinuo memorial volleyball trophy-cum-literary competition organised by Northern Angami Students’ Union was held at the IG Stadium Kohima on Nov. 18.
Nerhema Students’ Union emerged as the champions in men’s volleyball and the runner-up was bagged by Tsiesema Students’ Union. In women’s volleyball, Tsiesema Students’ union emerged as champions and Nerhema students’ union bagged the runner-up.
For literary competition, Khrielakuo Kets of Kijumetouma bagged the first position in poetry, while the second and third by Viladeinuo Sachii of Kohima Village Students Union and Meteituolie Talie of Rusoma Students’ Union.
In the painting competition, first prize was bagged by Neiketouzo Keyho of Kohima Village Students’ Union; second prize Meyievor of Zhadima Students’ Union and the third prize by Amenuo Kense of Tuophema Students’ Union.
In essay competition Visier Yashii of Dihoma Students’ Union, second by Philomena Rutsa of Nerhema Students’ Union and third prize by Neikhrietuo Kiewhou of Nerhema Students’ Union and Mengubeinuo Solo of Kohima Village Students Union.
Earlier Dr. Kevizakie Rio, joint mission director RMSA gracing the occasion as the chief guest said the event would provide a platform to display their skills, get to know each other more and bring unity in the region.
He urged the youth to give their best in whichever profession they are and challenged the young people to contribute something for the society and be an asset of the society and not liability.
Commandant 9th Assam Rifles Col Raja Tyagi in his address as special guest stressed on the importance of physical fitness where one need to be involved in sports. He also advised the young people to choose the right path and encouraged the youths to live a respectful life with respectful profession.
The valedictory programme was graced by Kekhrie Yhome former associate professor Nagaland and Delhi University.
