Mokokchung, November 26: Sunepmenla Longkumer, who aspired to be an Air hostess, was crowned Miss Mokokchung 2016 amidst thunderous applause from the jam-packed decent audience at Town Hall, Mokokchung, here on Saturday. Sadempokla Longkumer and Oienla Jamir were crowned 1st & 2nd runners-up respectively.
In the individual categories, Miss Congeniality was awarded to Sadempokla Longkumer, while Miss Best Complexion was awarded to Oienla Jami, Miss Photogenic & Miss perfect Ten was awarded to Sunepmenla Longkumer and Miss Beautiful Hair was awarded to Talipokla Pongen.
The eight contestants were judged on three rounds - ethnic, designer and evening wear.
The chief judge of the event was Tiarenla Jamir, former Miss Mokokchung & Miss Nagaland 2005 and Miss North East 2006 along with four panel of judges R Daniel Angami, EAC; B Limanuksung Longkumer, entrepreneur; Rongsemenla Longkumer, teacher and social worker; and Asola Ozukum, president MAAM.
Miss Mokokchung 2016 walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000, while the 1st runners-up received Rs 30,000 and the 2nd runners-up received Rs 20,000 each plus gift hampers.
The winner of this year’s Miss Mokokchung title will be the Brand Ambassador for District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Mokokchung, for one year.
Miss Mokokchung beauty pageant 2016 held on the theme ‘Elegance, a beauty that never fades’ was organised by Communiqué under the aegis of Mokokchung District Art & Culture Council (MDACC) and was choreographed and directed by Adang Jamir.
The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung Sushil
Kumar Patel and Imsu Yaden, Vice president BJP Nagaland, as the chief guest and the guest of honor respectively.
