DIMAPUR — The Sunbird Trust completed a scholarship distribution drive, providing INR 1,200 each to 1,000 children across 26 government schools, primarily in eastern Nagaland, between November 12 and 15.

The initiative was supported by a major corporate donor, while the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), along with the Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS), played a key role in its implementation by identifying the government schools, stated an update.

The initiative, specifically designed to support students from government schools, aimed to ensure that financial assistance reaches families who need it most. A six-member team, along with the IDAN team, travelled deep into remote regions to personally hand over the scholarship amount to parents.

Established in 2014, Sunbird Trust is a non-religious and apolitical not-for-profit organisation working in remote and conflict-affected parts of Northeast India with the motto of ‘Peace through Education’. It facilitates physical and financial access to education through building schools and hostels and providing child sponsorships.
